Meet Our Board of Trustees
Meet the St Andrew’s First Aid Board of Trustees.
Mr Rudy Crawford MBE BSc (Hons) MBChB FRCS (Glasg) FRCEM (Chairman of the Board of Trustees)
Rudy joined St Andrew’s in 1966, was appointed to the Board in 1991, and became Chairman in 2003. Rudy has co-authored the authorised First Aid Manual of the UK Voluntary Aid Societies (St John Ambulance, British Red Cross and St Andrew’s First Aid). Rudy’s professional career was spent in medicine, retiring as a Consultant in Accident and Emergency Medicine and Surgery at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Ms Joan Forrest DPE MA (Ed) (Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees)
Joan became a Trustee in the 1990s. Her background is in education and adult training having been a teacher for many years then, latterly, a Senior Lecturer in Health Promotion at the University of Strathclyde. Her specialist areas included the development and running of adult training courses for a range of professionals.
Dr Ian Morrison PhD FRCP Edi (Chief Medical Officer)
Ian has been a volunteer with St Andrew’s for over 25 years. He became the Trustee representative for the Central Scotland area in 2013 and was Commandant in Chief for several years before becoming Chief Medical Officer in 2024. Professionally, Ian is a Consultant Neurologist at Ninewells Hospital and Honorary Reader at the University of Dundee.
Mr Derek Ellery
Derek joined the Board of Trustees in 2011. He is the Chairman of the Board’s Finance and General Purposes Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of St Andrew’s First Aid Training & Supplies Limited, the Charity’s trading subsidiary. Derek is a corporate lawyer with significant business management experience.
Mr David Davidson
David is a Chartered Surveyor who has recently retired as a Partner of Cushman & Wakefield LLP, the third largest firm in the world specialising in Real Estate Consultancy.
During his 31 years with that business, he worked in their Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, and for 15 years served as Scottish Managing Director and then Chairman. His day-to-day specialism was advising on buying or selling commercial property investments. David is an active golfer and cyclist.
Mrs Morven Fioretti RGN RM BSc (Hons) BA (DN) Dipm BSc (Hons) Mid
Morven first became a Trustee in 2000 and re-joined the Board in 2014. Morven is a Trainer/Assessor and is passionate about delivering quality training and encouraging volunteers to develop. She is a qualified nurse and midwife and currently works as a Midwifery Team Lead in Ross-shire.
Mr Mark Galloway
Mark has been a volunteer with St Andrew’s since 2006 and joined the Board in 2015. He is a qualified financial adviser and Chartered Banker, with over 21 years’ experience in financial services.
Mrs Ruth Morrison LLB(Hons) Dip LP
Ruth started work in Glasgow as a solicitor working in a variety of different sized practices. After having family, she co-founded and ran for 27 years a typesetting company in Falkirk supplying services to many of the largest Publishers in the UK. Her role covered Finance, HR and Health and Safety responsibility. During that time, she also joined the Board of Falkirk Community Trust and latterly was Chairperson. On retirement in 2022 she became a Trustee of St Andrews.
Dr Neil Ramsay BMedSci (Hons) MBChB MRCP (UK)
Neil has been a volunteer with St Andrew’s since the age of 16 and it was these initial experiences as a young First Aider that helped inspire him to study medicine. Neil currently works as a neurology registrar at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow and has specific clinical and research interests in movement disorders and functional neurological disorder (FND). Neil joined the Board of Trustees in 2017 and believes strongly in developing young people and the transformational effect of volunteering on people of all ages.
Mr George Watt MBE
George joined the organisation as a volunteer in 1949 and then joined the staff team in 1957. He held various roles within the organisation during his employment, including Deputy Chief Executive from 1988 to 1994 and Acting Chief Executive 1994 -95. At the time of retiring in 1997 he held the posts of Training Manager and Corps Support Manager. On his retirement in 1997 George became a Trustee of St Andrew’s.
